LGBTQIA+
We as a staff seek to be actively affirming of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship and family structures. We welcome and encourage the authentic self-expression of LGBTQIA+ clients, and commit to providing gender and sexuality affirming care. Those who identify as LGBTQIA+ are often stigmatized in family systems and society, and along with additional risk factors, have, and may, experience higher levels of trauma. Collective research suggests that those who have experienced high level of trauma and identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community are twice as likely to have higher rates of mental health disorders and have four times the rate of suicide attempts than their peers. While treating each client as an individual, our therapists aim to identify and support clients specialized needs due to the stigma and discrimination that the LGBTQIA+ community faces.
