LGBTQIA+
We as a staff seek to be actively affirming of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship and family structures. We welcome and encourage the authentic self-expression of LGBTQIA+ clients, and commit to providing gender and sexuality affirming care. Those who identify as LGBTQIA+ are often stigmatized in family systems and society, and along with additional risk factors, have, and may, experience higher levels of trauma. Collective research suggests that those who have experienced high level of trauma and identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community are twice as likely to have higher rates of mental health disorders and have four times the rate of suicide attempts than their peers. While treating each client as an individual, our therapists aim to identify and support clients specialized needs due to the stigma and discrimination that the LGBTQIA+ community faces.

Integrated Healing: Mind-Body Connection Workshop
This workshop is for anyone struggling with anxiety, emotional dysregulation, trauma, and/or a disconnection from sense of self/identity. The purpose of this workshop is to learn about holistic ways to self-soothe and manage distress through exploring education on the impact of traumatic life experiences, evidence-based meditation, mindfulness and somatic techniques.
This workshop is intended to be an offering for individuals to learn, experience and then be able to integrate the practices learned that resonated into their daily lives. This workshop is part educational, part experiential and will be hosted by a facilitator who is trained in trauma-informed psychotherapy, yoga and meditation.
The workshop is 2 hours long and will be held in-person at our West office location. Individuals are encouraged to bring a journal, water bottle and an open mind. Please email Christina.Covington@BPFamily.org if you are interested in signing up or have any questions.
