Firouz Ardalan, PhD.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” I love this quote by author and activist James Baldwin. However, even the smallest step towards change often involves a huge amount of courage and trust. I am always in awe of the strength, trust, and vulnerability that our patients demonstrate and am humbled to be allowed to be part of each individual’s deeply personal journey. We do not know what we will find when we begin this work, but my hope is that whatever we do discover, we can learn to use to better understand ourselves and move us towards living the lives we want.

Firouz Ardalan received his B.A in Philosophy from NYU, his master’s in clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Adelphi University. He completed his clinical psychology internship at Mount Sinai Morningside and West. Firouz is fascinated by group dynamics and how it can be utilized both in conjunction with individual therapy and on its own. Firouz has spent most of his career researching different aspects of suicide, from how to assess risk to what its impacts are on treating clinicians. He uses an integrative approach while working from a psychodynamic framework.
