Good Egg production by the Red Fern Theatre Company

The Family Center for Bipolar is a philanthropic partner with the Red Fern Theatre Company, a non-profit theatre company dedicated to producing socially conscious plays. Their newest production is entitled GOOD EGG written by Dorothy Fortenberry; directed by Kel Haney

The play follows the story of a sister, responsible Meg (Andrea Day) who has always taken care of her bipolar younger brother Matt (Dan McCabe). But when she decides to get pregnant—and contemplates having her embryos screened for bipolar disorder—is she taking the idea of "being responsible" too far? It causes a debate with her brother about bioethics and what it means to self-select the traits her baby would have.

A funny and surprising play about bioethics, siblings, and the limits of unconditional love; it captures the struggles of someone living with bipolar disorder as well as a sister who fights to help him.

Good Egg will be performed October 21 – November 7, 2010, at the LABA Theater located at the 14th Street Y at 344 East 14th Street between First and Second Avenues.
